HOW will Scotland fare against the massive minnows of Gibraltar? Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) takes a look for us.
Scotland v Gibraltar | Sunday 17:00 | Sky Sports 1
This game, for me, is all about Gibraltar.
It's all about coming to a conclusion just how bad they are and making an assessment from there. At the moment, just four games into their competitive international career it's not entirely clear.
After opening with two successive 7-0 defeats to Poland and the Republic Of Ireland in September and October respectively it all seemed rather silly. “Why are this side allowed to play in this competition?” “My pub team could give them a game.” Those were the calls from the masses.
The two games that followed though showed mark improvement scoreline wise. Georgia only scored three against them while the world champions toiled to just a 4-0 win in Nuremberg.
Have Gibraltar improved? Or is it that Georgia's level of form is four goals below Poland and ROI and that Germany just haven't clicked since their World Cup win? All reasonable assumptions.
Scotland just don't do hammerings. They never occur. They haven't scored more than two goals in a qualifier for eight years. Ironically that was against Ukraine and not against one of the minnows.
Their 6-0 win over the Faroes at the start of that campaign in 2006 is the only time they've scored more than four in a competitive international in the last 19 years.
Over the last three campaigns the likes of Liechtenstein and Iceland (before they were good) have proved awkward opponents and Scotland have never been able to stretch away from opposition.
The Correct Score market is the logical place to hang out for this match, but to be honest there's little value kicking around. The price that caught my eye was the 31/20 on Under 4.5 Goals from BetVictor.
Germany failed to put past more than four past Gibraltar and if you've read my stats higher up the page you'll know Scotland struggle to smash up opponents.
