The 3-0 Panthers visit the 1-2 Bucs. There have been a couple of times this season that I have looked at a line in amazement and that's the case here. Carolina are -3 in Florida, that's surely way too low.
I have been quite impressed with what Cam Newton has been doing this year. Five TDs thrown and another couple on the ground from Superman. Backed up by one of the meanest defences in the AFC, the Panthers have quietly gone about their business.
As if Tampa's 10 point loss in Houston and the opening day hammering wasn't enough evidence of how poor a football team these Bucs are, every single stat points to them ending the day 1-3.
Carolina averages almost 50 yards per game more on Offence, out scores Tampa by 10 points per game and concede 10 points less. It's hard to see anything but a fairly easy if low scoring win for the road team.
Oakland Raiders @ Chicago Bears | Sunday 18:00
I really did not want to write about my Bears this season but I can't get away from this game. Let's be honest Chicago have been worse than awful. I tipped us pre-season to win less than seven games. That might be a bit optimistic, we will be lucky to win one at this rate.
It wasn't looking great before opening week with the loss of star draft pick Kevin White to injury or Brandon Marshall to New York. Almost the last receiver standing, Alshon Jeffrey started hurt and still is. Losing Jay Cutler, our ‘star' Quarterback was an even bigger disaster but only because his back up is Jimmy Clausen. Christ.
Well this was one of the games I had us winning but guess what, we won't. Oakland have suddenly found a team. Derek Carr is a decent signal caller isn't he. Amari Cooper is the undoubted star of the 2015 Draft so far and Murray is doing a fine job in the backfield.
Chicago was shut for the first time in 50 years just last week, whilst Oakland was winning in Baltimore one of the hardest places to go in the NFL. Raiders win.
Houston Texans @ Atlanta Falcons | Sunday 18:00
Atlanta were kind of a nap for me at Dallas last week, so I was pretty shocked when Joseph Randall ran into the end zone three times in what seemed like the first five minutes for the Cowboys. I was equally as delighted that the Falcons showed some real steel to come back and take the game away from Dallas.
Matt Ryan is a really good quarterback but he's so lucky to have Julio Jones. He's an absolute machine and surely the best wide receiver in football right now. Devonta Freeman did a fine job, running in three TDs of his own but a threat like Julio does tend to open the game up a little.
I've loved watching Houston on this year's Hard Knocks and I fell into the trap of giving them a much better rating than they really deserved. They still do not have a real starting QB, although my WR shout DeAndre Hopkins is hauling in the six pointers on a regular basis.
In truth they are just not the same team without Arian Foster. If he were to start this week, it would improve the Texans chances 100% but it's unlikely.
It's a shame to see Houston starting 1-2 with the one W coming at home to Tampa last week by 10 point but while I do see them improving through the season Atlanta are way too strong at home and Matt Ryan averages over 330 yards against AFC opponents in the dome in the last 12 months.
That makes a Passing Line of 276.5 very attractive and is the bet here. Reports of lead Running Back Freeman being listed as possible this weekend only favours the Atlanta passing game.
