AFTER his winning tip on Thursday, Louis Ross has his eye on two NFL bets this Saturday night.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins | Saturday 21:30 | Sky Sports 1
There are lots of questions surrounding this match-up. Can the Philadelphia Eagles take the NFC East? How will the Dallas Cowboys do during the rest of December? Will RGIII prove to Washington that he is a franchise Quaterback?
Philly appear to have it all in this game. Shady McCoy is always capable of a breakout game, and you wouldn't be at all surprised if he goes for 150 yards plus tonight. Jeremy Maclin has been hugely productive at Wide Receiver and despite all the abuse he receives, we really shouldn't forget Mark Sanchez taking the New York Jets into the playoffs in his first two seasons. The guy is more than capable.
Washington were shut out at home by the Rams in Week 14, but showed some signs of fight at times last week at the Giants. Their issues at Quaterback apart, they have struggled to get Alfred Morris and the running game going this year.
Whilst pride is a great motivator, the Eagles have a play-off spot to go for if they can win out. I think they'll be too strong for the Redskins here and the -7.5 available at Evens with Betfred is my pick.
San Diego Chargers @ San Francisco 49ers | Sunday 01:25 | Sky Sports 1
If the Eagles – Redskins game could be a shoot out, this looks a classic Defence game. The 49ers D has not been at its imperious best this season but still managed to hold Seattle to under 20 points last week. San Fran will need that Defence clicking here, because in the last 54 drives, they have scored a fairly dismal five TDs. The less said about Colin Kapernicks regression as a play caller and the complete disappearance of Vernon Davies, the better.
That is not to say that San Diego have been lighting it up lately. There's always hope when Philip Rivers is under centre but he has struggled in recent weeks, although you cannot condemn failures against teams like New England and Denver. The loss of Keenan Allen is a blow, but Malcolm Floyd can pop up with big plays and in Antonio Gates at Tight End, they have one of the games all-time greats. 10 TDs this season is a fantastic return.
San Francisco home games have not seen a huge amount of points scored. Even kickers as reliable as Phil Dawson have struggled. I can't split these teams in what I see as a close, low scoring game. Under 40.5 points at 20/21 with Paddy Power will do for me.
Best Bets
Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins – Philadelphia -7.5 (Evens Betfred)
San Diego Chargers @ San Francisco 49ers – Under 40.5 Points (20/21 Paddy Power)
