AS the regular season draws to a close, Louis Ross (@LouisRoss67) picks out his best bets from the New Years Day action.
Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers | Sunday 21:25
The last week of the regular season is always incredibly difficult from a betting point of view. At least half of this Sunday's games have nothing on them and are to be avoided. Starters are always difficult to predict for those already in the post season.
Title
One game that certainly does have something on it, an AFC West title, takes place in beautiful San Diego and it could well be the last ever for the Chargers. A move along the coast to Los Angeles looks very much on the cards.
Tonight's match-up is all about Kansas. The Chargers are possibly the most unlucky of this seasons losers. No team has been hit more by injuries to key personnel. Star running back Melvin Gordon will be missing once again tonight. The emergence of rookie first round draft pick Joey Bosa has been one of the few bright spots for the Bolts this year.
The Chiefs on the other hand have quietly improved throughout this season and in Tyreek Hill have uncovered a superstar that can do everything. The fastest player in the NFL can score on an 80 yard pass downfield, coming out of the backfield with ball in hand or returning either punt or kick off. Incredibly entertaining to watch, he has brought Kansas to the party in recent weeks.
Having the top points scoring defence/special teams in the league doesn't hurt Kansas and they cannot be discounted from a very deep playoff run. Opposing quarterbacks will not look forward to the pass rush of Dee Ford and Justin Houston. With Spencer Ware, a more than capable running back, things look positive for Andy Reid's team.
Kelce
It is the Tight End I want to focus on today though. Travis Kelce is as good as they come. Perhaps only Gronk is better. Particularly in yards gained after the catch. Kelce is a brute to try and bring down and it's been said by better judges than me that there is no better route runner in his position. Now despite going over 100 yards in five of his last six games, Bet365 have his receiving line set at just 68.5 yards.
That's a max bet NAP for me at odds of 10/11 and in a game where I expect him to dominate the opposition defence, I will also back him to score at an over priced 7/5 with the same firm.
Best Bets
Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers – Travis Kelce Over 68.5 Receiving Yards (10/11 Bet365)
Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers: Travis Kelce Anytime Touchdown (7/5 Bet365)
