AFTER another brilliant weekend for Will Dyer (@w2Dyer) he's back with a midweek MLS pick here.
Vancouver Whitecaps v Colorado Rapids | Thursday 03:00
Just seven games left for Vancouver, eight for Colorado. The Whitecaps have three home games in a row now which will be much welcome on Canada’s West Coast after back-to-back away losses.
Vancouver find themselves in a Play-Off Quarter Final spot right now, I could not have foreseen that at the beginning of the season; opposing them has proved costly this year. They are just one point above Dallas though and the Texans have a game in hand so make no bones about it, these remaining fixtures are hugely important.
The Whitecaps have made the Play-Offs in two of their five seasons but fell at the first hurdle on both occasions. Colorado aren’t completely out of it, three wins on the bounce has given them a chance. We usually see one or two teams rally at this stage of the season but I don’t see that continuing for the Rapids.
Without trying to nit-pick too much, two of those wins have come at home where they’re always a tough prospect and the other was a jammy 1-0 victory in Chicago, a game which the hosts dominated. Colorado have also already beaten Vancouver twice this year but both were also at home.
Pablo Mastroeni’s men have been consistent away from home this season. There have only been 16 goals in their 12 road games this season and that’s led to Under 2.5 banking in 11/12. I think that’s worth focussing on here.
Vancouver have the second best defensive record in MLS, Colorado the best, so I’m not hunting for goals for a change. I can see the Whitecaps edging this at BC Place, they won their last home game against Colorado 1-0 and something similar looks on the cards.
‘Win To Nil’ could be a good shout at 7/4 but I think Colorado will keep this tight, after all they’ve not conceded more than two in a game on the road all season so I’ll boost it furthermore with Vancouver to win and Under 2.5 goals at 11/4 with Bet365.
Best Bets
Vancouver Whitecaps v Colorado Rapids – Vancouver to win and Under 2.5 Goals (11/4 Bet365)

Thanks for tip. I also think Portland Timbers will win. Any thoughts on that game please
Hi Dermot,
No problem. I tend to agree with you but I think the price is fair, not much room to manoeuvre. I struggle to oppose Sporting as well, they might not have the best away record but I fancy them to put a stop to these defeats pretty quickly. Should be a tight game, Portland tend to dominate possession at home and Sporting have a lot of absences. I’ll say go for it, but I wasn’t confident enough to tip it myself 🙂
