DAILY RECORD star Mr Fixit (@mrfixitstips) picks out his best bet for Scotland's crunch World Cup qualifier at Lithuania on Friday night.
Lithuania v Scotland | Friday 1st September 2017, 19:45 | Sky Sports
Scotland are targeting six points in five days to stay alive on the road to Russia.
Four points could be enough to keep them in contention depending on results elsewhere but you need to beat teams like Lithuania to be serious contenders.
I’m giving Gordon Strachan’s side victory against Malta on Monday and hopefully he picks the points in Vilnius on Friday. We all know it won’t be easy against stubborn eastern Europeans on an artificial pitch some players will hate and it looks cert to go Under 2.5 Goals.
However, after coming so close to beating England last time out I’m backing Scotland to nick it even though we are no bigger than 5/6 with Bet365.
If we win it could be by 1-0 at 5/1 (Winner) while Under 2.5 Goals pays 16/25 at Marathon. Six of the nine meetings between the sides have gone that way.
Scotland to win and Under 2.5 Goals is 9/4 at Ladbrokes and Scotland/Under 1.5 Goals is 19/4 with BetStars.
Celtic hitman Leigh Griffiths is our most likeliest first scorer at 9/2 with Bet365 and is 7/4 with Unibet to score. He should start after netting two free-kicks last time out against England.
I’m anticipating a tight and scrappy tussle but happy to back Scotland to squeeze out a vital narrow victory with the win and Under 2.5 Goals making most appeal – it covers us against a 1-0 and 2-0 away triumph.
