International Friendlies | 18th November 2014

AS well as the Scotland v England match, there's a whole batch of international friendlies to get stuck into on Tuesday. We got Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) to pick out his two best bets.

Romania v Denmark | Tuesday 18:30

You get the sense that a few of the middle-tier sides have been really galvanised by the new Euro 2016 qualifying format. I'd put Romania in that bracket. Victor Piturca's side lie top of Group F in qualifying with 10 points out of a possible 12 and look a good bet to be at the France 2016 party.

So far they've won in Greece and Finland, and put an end to Northern Ireland's 100% qualifying start on Friday night. This good form was preceded by a strong World Cup qualifying campaign where they finished second to Netherlands and lost in a play-off to Greece. I just get the impression that this side are on the up.

From a friendly point of view, the Romanians have lost just one of their last seven match-ups, and in the last two years they've beaten Belgium and drew with Argentina. Solid form.

It's been a miserable couple of years for the Danish national team, but a fine win in Serbia on Friday night indicates they could be on the way back. Despite that, it's hard not to forget some of their horror results from their recent World Cup qualifying group. They won just one home game and lost 4-0 to Armenia in Copenhagen.

They've lost four of their last eight friendlies losing to the likes of Macedonia and struggling Turkey.

I'm happy to back upwards Romania here at 29/20 with BetVictor. There's a real feel good factor about the nation at the moment as they sit top of their Euro 2016 qualifying group and I expect that to continue here.

Hungary v Russia | Tuesday 19:30

My Saturday night was full of celebrations as Austria beat Russia at 15/8 like I predicted, and yet again Russia have been priced up too short in this friendly match.

I get the feeling there's a real crisis within the Russian national team and their patience must be wearing very thin with Fabio Capello. They failed to win a game at the World Cup and have suffered two poor results in their Euro qualifying group with a defeat to Austria and a home draw against Moldova. All is not well.

Because Hungary haven't featured in a major tournament since 1986, we perceive them as an average side, but make no mistake they're improving. They picked up 17 points in their World Cup qualifying group (two points off a play-off place) and managed a win against Turkey in that section.

The Hungarians have won three of their last six friendlies and have drawn with the Czech Republic and Denmark in the last 15 months. I'll back them to avoid defeat here at odds of 3/4 with Bet365.

Best Bets

Romania v Denmark – Romania to win (29/20 BetVictor)

Hungary v Russia – Hungary +1 (3/4 Bet365)
