Horse Racing – Step down in class ideal for Sir Dancealot

HORSE RACING boff Graeme Johnston (@GraemeJ_83) picks out his best bet from Saturday's action.

12:55 Newcastle | Chipchase Stakes

The Chipchase Stakes, a Group 3 over six furlongs is one of the highlights of Newcastle's season and is usually a decent race. This looks a solid, if not spectacular, renewal but there is one I think is of interest to me here.

I backed Kimberella (4/1 Bet365) in this race last year and it still frustrates me to this day he didn't win after meeting trouble. He looks set to run well but I've deserted him this time round.

Dream Of Dreams (13/2 Bet365) from the Sir Michael Stoute yard is already a listed winner and he's got the form in the book to win this. He returned with a below par effort in April but he's better than he showed that day and can prove it here.

His stable is in great form and providing be takes to the surface I expect him to be involved at the finish and is an each-way bet to me.

1:45 Newmarket | Criterion Stakes

A tricky looking seven furlong contest here with six of the seven horses separated by just 1lb in the handicap. Their form ties in together so it may be a case of who puts it all together on the day, but at the odds there is one I like.

Dutch Connection (7/2 BetBright) is, at his best better than these, however we don't always see that side of him and with the stable still quiet he's not for me here.

Larchmomt Lad (9/2 Betfair) was a group winner in his youth but he's never hit those heights since. He is relatively consistent but has a habit of finding one or two too good so is opposable.

The one I like is Sir Dancealot (7/2 Ladbrokes). He was outclassed and outpaced in the Diamond Jubilee last week, however he is well up to winning this.

If it turns tactical, he's the quickest in the field, he stays the trip well and with the stable going great guns he looks the best option here.

1:45 Newmarket – Sir Dancealot (7/2 Ladbrokes)

I grew up watching Hearts games with my dad and playing football at every opportunity so betting on it was the logical next step! Football coupons became a Saturday ritual and it introduced me into the world of horse racing. I started watching it on a regular basis, and after Galileo's Derby win in 2001 I was hooked. I follow both flat and national hunt racing attending the northern meetings when possible.
