3.10 Market Rasen | Thursday 21st November 2019
Tuesday's NAP ran a great race in second but just came up against a very good Skelton horse in Clondaw Anchor – I was not expecting that performance from him.
But we move on to Thursday's NAP and hopefully we can make it two winners from three this week.
Christmas In USA in the 3:10 race at Market Rasen (7/4 William Hill) is the call.
This horse produced a cracking performance in a conditionals race last Thursday at Sedgefield, winning by a good eight lengths. He was very keen in the early stages and at times pulled clear from the rest. When Bruce Lynn asked him to win the race he galloped on very well up the home straight to win comfortably.
Because that last win was a conditional race he escapes the handicapper's grasp and misses a 7lb rise, in what is arguably an easier field than last time.
He absolutely loves the soft ground, after winning on soft twice last season and in his last race, he will be a very tough nut to crack at a distance he relishes too.
The Nick Alexander team are in fine form this season, boasting a strike rate of 22% over the last 14 days which is fantastic to see for a little yard. They make the 600+ mile round trip to bring him here from Scotland, for what is their only horse of the day. That for me speaks volumes in how confident they are he can win Thursday's race.
Lucy Alexander takes the reins again, she steered this horse to victory on two occasions last season and she will be bidding to continue that great form here.
There are plenty of things going for Christmas In USA – no rise in weights, loves the soft ground, loves the trip and the usual jockey is back on board who will know this horse inside out.
I'm very confident; if he can get to the front again and run away with the race then he will not be passed coming to the line.
Best Bets
