Euro 2012 | Group B: Germany v Portugal

0

Over the month leading up to Euro 2012 it was Germany who proved the most popular with punters and it looked like they might usurp Spain at the top of the betting. They didn’t quite manage that but there is huge confidence behind Joachim Lowe’s side. Their opening assignment in a punishing Group B is a tie against Portugal.

The Germans were perfect in qualifying with 10 wins out of 10 and it seems the focus has been on this tournament for a number of years now. Portugal on the other hand have had a fractious time since the 2010 World Cup. Disappointing results at the start of the qualifying campaign saw Carlos Queiroz be replaced with Paulo Bento. This proved a shrewd move as Bento steadied the ship and steered the Portuguese to a second place finish in their qualifying group behind Denmark.

The Portuguese have struggled in their warm-up games losing to Turkey and drawing to Macedonia and it may be that this German side proves too strong for them. Take the 23/20 with Bet Victor or Ladbrokes that Germany collect three points here.

Key Facts:

  • Germany had a perfect record in qualifying with 30 points out of 30
  • Portugal finished below Denmark in their qualifying group and needed a play-off to get here
  • Portugal have failed to win either of their warm-up games
