Friday’s Bet Of The Day: Pars to post another impressive performance

JACK Wright's (@JackWright_BSB) brilliant Bet of the Day continues on Friday as we head to Scotland…

Alloa vs Dunfermline | Friday 30th April 2021, 20:30

In contrast to my recent picks where both sides have had something to play for, I am selecting a game from the final round of matches in the Scottish Championship as already-relegated Alloa host Dunfermline.

The Pars are already guaranteed a place in the Premiership Quarter Final Play Off, but are still unsure of who they will be playing and where – a win could see them finish third if Dundee slip up at Queen of the South, but a win for The Dark Blues and a defeat for second place Raith at champions Hearts would see them swap places.

Stevie Crawford has stated emphatically that he expects his team to focus fully on the game at The Indodrill Stadium to carry the momentum after recording back-to-back victories in to the play off fixtures with another win here and promised not to be too clever with team selection.

Dunfermline recorded an impressive 4-1 win in what was their first away game of the delayed 2020/21 season in October, extending an impressive run of just one defeat (2019) away to Alloa in 42 years.

This will be Peter Grant’s last game in charge of The Wasps who will return to League One without him next season, so we have to wonder where the motivation will be for the team knowing there will be a new manager at the helm as they bid to bounce back.

As a semi-professional side the Clackmannanshire have arguably been punching above their weight but it has been their defence which has ultimately proved to be their downfall this season, conceding a massive 60 goals from just 26 games and with Dunfermline in good goal scoring form I expect a healthy away win here.

Alloa have conceded two or more goals in nine of their last 11 fixtures with no clean sheet in the last 19 league games where as the Pars come in to this match unbeaten in five and having really found their shooting boots in the last two scoring seven goals.

The temptation was to play goals here but the odds of 19/20 for a Dunfermline win was too appealing as they look to carry out their manager's wish to continue their winning streak in to the vital final games of the season.

Having had a passion for football for as long as I can remember – I’m talking Shoot League Ladders here – one of my first “bets” is still my biggest win. After begging my mum to let me fill in her pools coupon so I could show off my knowledge, eight draws later and a cheque for £11,500 was soon in the post. As a Norwich fan it’s important to have a good grasp of what’s going on in the lower leagues and I also like exploring those less popular leagues to have a delve into any stats-based markets that are available. Right now, I’m particularly enjoying player bets. Outside of sport, I love eating and drinking - maybe a little too much - as well as listening to a varied spectrum of music, both from the comfort of my own home and at festivals.
