I've always had a soft spot for Spurs. Not sure why but I think it stems from the likes of Glen Hoddle, Gary Lineker and of course Paul Gascoigne playing for them when I was young, innocent and impressionable.
In truth there's been little to get hugely excited about when it comes to this team bar a 1991 FA Cup win and the purchase of Jurgen Klinsmann in 1994. That might just be changing though.
Sunday's win over Man City felt epic. It felt like a moment that Spurs fans would hark back to in darker days in the future. It might just be the trigger for a glorious three months ahead.
With all that in mind and the ecstasy of Sunday still fresh in the soul I feel an urge to take them on on Thursday. Yes, you can talk about momentum but I also believe in the hangover effect.
Yes, it's vague but I really think Sunday's win may have taken a lot out of the staff and their real focus will be on their Premier League match with Swansea a week on Sunday.
I hate doubting this side but will the intensity levels be as strong for this match? Which team will Mauricio Pochettino field and should they really be as short as 2/1?
Amongst the hedonistic vibe surrounding Spurs we may be dismissing this very smart Fiorentina side who look big at 29/20 on home soil in Italy.
They sit third in Serie A with five home wins out their last six in that division and are fresh from their own Valentines Day victory in the shape of a 2-1 win over Inter.
La Viola knocked out Tottenham in last season's competition at this very stage and look underrated at the odds. Spurs failed to beat Anderlecht and Monaco on their travels in the group stages and will surely find this a sterner test.
