Monday Night Football comes from Goodison Park as Southampton are the visitors for the first Premier League game in March.  Everton have an impressive record against the Saints on their own turf with the side from the south coast looking for their first away success here since 1997.

As well as an impressive record against their opponents, you would expect Everton to be riding on a crest of a wave after picking up three points against Liverpool last time out. The Toffees put on an impressive display keeping out the reigning champions and scoring twice themselves last weekend.

Although Everton’s away performances of late have been impressive, this is not the case at Goodison. In their last 10 home games Everton have W2-D2-L6.

After a rather impressive start, which saw Ralph Hasenhüttl's men sat comfortably in mid-table at Christmas (9th place on 25 points), Saints' form has nosed-dived. Since Boxing Day in the league, Southampton have W0-D1-L7, a worrying run.

The Saints dip has coincided with key injuries throughout the squad, the latest of these been influential central midfielder Oriol Romeu, who has an ankle injury which will see him out for the rest of the season.

As well as Romeu, Kyle Walker-Peters is still out meaning centre back Jan Bednarek has been filling in at right back. Other key absentees include Theo Walcott, Ibahima Diallo and Takumi Miamino.

The betting angles

In the outright market Everton are generally 23/20 with the draw at 13/5 and Southampton 5/2. For my first pick and main play. I am going to keep it easy and back a home win at a best priced 6/5 with SBK.

Even though Everton’s home form has not been great recently, I can’t ignore the key injuries Southampton have at the moment and the Saints form also comes into consideration. I also feel having top scorer Dominic Calvert Lewin back fit is key and am backing the Toffees to pick up the points on offer, at an enticing odds-against price.

An angle I do like in the anytime goalscorer market is Richarlison. The Everton forward is currently on a nice purple patch, scoring four goals in his last four games, filling the void left by DLC whilst out injured.

In the form he is in, playing a team conceding goals recently, odds of 13/5 with Sky Bet look an attractive proposition for the Brazilian to notch, and one which can’t be turned down.

Best Bets

Everton vs Southampton – Everton to win (6/5 SBK)

Everton vs Southampton – Richarlison to score at anytime (13/5 Sky Bet)
