OUR man from Sky Sports, Joe Drabble (@Joe_Drabs) takes a look at the final World Cup Quarter-Final for us.
New Zealand v West Indies | Saturday 01:00 | Sky Sports 3
So one semi-final has been decided in the shape of India v Australia and now South Africa await the winners of Saturday’s showdown between New Zealand and West Indies in Wellington.
New Zealand are 3/10 favourites with Sportingbet to reach a seventh World Cup semi-final and that looks a shoo-in for the co-hosts against a hit-and-miss West Indies outfit.
While that price may not be too appealing for many of you, I’ve found three other value bets which will hopefully get your weekend off to a winning start.
New Zealand return to the Westpac Stadium aka ‘The Cake Tin’ – the scene of their Group Stage mauling of England earlier in the tournament.
Pace bowler Tim Southee was the scourge of the English batsmen with seven wickets that day and, as well as being one of the leading wicket-takers in the competition, has now taken more ODI wickets than anyone else at the venue.
He is a whopping 11/2 with 888 Sport to be the top wicket-taker in the match and that is more than tempting enough for me.
I always like the Man of The Match market for a chunk of value and here I’m looking at a man who will be given the chance to impress with both bat and ball.
Corey Anderson has been integral to New Zealand’s run to the quarters, scoring 158 runs and taking 10 wickets so far. At 16/1 with Coral he looks a decent bet for MOM.
Finally, in the batting stakes, I’ll be on New Zealand to have the highest opening partnership at a best-price 4/6 with Stan James.
New Zealand have the most potent opening bowling attack in the competition and will be facing an unfit Chris Gayle and out-of-sorts Dwayne Smith first up.
I fancy an early breakthrough there, while Brendan McCullum and Martin Guptill are both in good form for New Zealand and should get the Black Caps off to a flyer!
Best Bets
New Zealand v West Indies – Tim Southee top bowler (11/2 888 Sport)
New Zealand v West Indies – New Zealand top opening partnership (4/6 Stan James)
New Zealand v West Indies – Corey Anderson to be Man Of The Match (16/1 Coral)
Money Back If Match Decided In Final Over
