RACING boff Gaurav Chaddah (@Gchaddahjourno) shares his thoughts on the Kim Muir Challenge Cup, the final race on Day 3.

Kim Muir Challenge Cup | Thursday 14th March 2019, 17:30 | Racing UK

Top amateur jockey Jamie Codd, who has ridden the winner four times from the last 10 renewals seemed rather sweet on the chances of favourite Measureofmydreams (6/1 BetVictor) and it’s easy to see why; he has been heavily supporter, having ran well at Fairyhouse last time after a lengthy lay-off.

Perfect Candiate (40/1 Unibet) ran well here in January when he stayed on well to finish third in a handicap chase and was beaten 13 lengths by the winner that day who was Beware The Bear, the winner of the Ultima on Tuesday, which is solid form and could run into a place again at big price.

Perfect Candiate will enjoy the cut in the ground and likes Cheltenham, he is 10 pounds lower than when he won a Grade 3 handicap chase here back in November 2017.

The Ultima form may be worth following; off a heavy weight Lake View Lad ran a great race to finish third on Tuesday and has twice this season saw off Captain Chaos (22/1 Unibet) for Dan Skelton who if can brush up his jumping could run a big race here. Soft ground will be no problem and his last two runs have been eye-catching enough behind Lake View Lad.

This is an open race and I should be having one more go in the shape of Any Second Now, (10/1 Unibet) who will be ridden by top amateur Derek O’Connor.

I can’t let him go unbacked with his very smart chasing form this season being the standout I feel in the entire field. He was a four-lengths third last time in a Grade 2 novice chase behind two smart types in Chris’ Dream and Champagne Classic and was fifth in a big handicap at Leaopardstown in December where he could have been much closer had he not made two costly jumping errors.

Before that Any Second Now was just beaten by Mortal, who went on to run a cracker behind RSA favourite Delta Work in a Grade 1 novice chase.

Football and horse racing are my main passions and I support Chelsea.
