EPISODE 2 of Friday night football takes place this week as Chelsea host Liverpool. Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) steps up to the plate.
Chelsea v Liverpool | Friday 20:00 | Sky Sports 1
These Friday night fixtures are certainly exciting in concept and this one looks a cracker on paper too as Chelsea host Liverpool with lots at stake.
The Blues suffered their first disappointment of the season on Sunday when they drew 2-2 with Swansea in Wales but still come into this fixture with 10 points to their name.
Liverpool have seven, which when you assess their fixtures isn't a bad total. Jurgen Klopp's side have already faced last season's Top 3 and now they face the team that went off favourites in the betting.
Somewhat ironically Liverpool collected points against all the Top 3 but lost their only other league match this season – an away trip to promoted Burnley.
It's a trend that's been consistent under Klopp's near year at the club with last season bringing some stunning victories over the Manchester sides but humbling defeat to the likes of relegated Newcastle and Watford.
This has certainly not been lost on the bookmakers as Liverpool sit around the 2/1-9/4 mark for this match. They went off 11/4 in the same fixture last season.
I'm struggling to find a firm position on Chelsea. While they were excellent against Burnley, have won three of their four matches and remain unbeaten there's just a feeling they can be got at.
Watford almost had the measure of them in Week 2 of the season and West Ham were unfortunate to lose out to them on the opening Monday night of the season.
So with uncertainty over Chelsea and Liverpool predictably unpredictable I'm swerving the Win-Draw-Win market and instead looking at goals.
Chelsea have been the kings of the Both Teams To Score bet with it copping on all five of their matches this season while Liverpool themselves are yet to register a PL clean sheet.
The re-addition of David Luiz to the Chelsea back line will fuel the usual mocking sentiments directed towards to him but there's no doubt it has the makings of a chastening (second) debut.
With all that in the mix I'll turn to the 13/11 quote for 188BET that both teams score in an Over 2.5 Goals game. Hopefully this will get the weekend off to a flyer.
