CARD king Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) is eyeing up the Spanish Super Cup for his latest bookings bet.
Sevilla v Barcelona | Sunday 21:00 | Sky Sports
The Spanish Super Cup kicks off in mainland Europe's hottest city as Sevilla welcome Barcelona to their Roman Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.
This cup is contested over two legs and the hosts will want to keep it competitive ahead of the return leg in Catalunya on Wednesday. I would imagine that their showing against Real Madrid in midweek will inspire them especially in front of their own fans.
The past five meetings between these two teams across all competitions from a cards perspective read as 11-5-8-4-7 at an average of seven per game.
Jesus Gil Manzano is the man in charge. I have assessed all above average referees in Spain ahead of the new season and it has been extremely revealing.
For example, Senor Manzano gave four or more cards in the second half in 10/11 of his opening La Liga games. Indeed he averages 4.63 cards per game after the half time oranges have been passed around.
To be honest I wanted to do 4+ second half cards but William Hill are the only firm to price that specific market and at the time of writing they aren't offering it. Therefore I have looked elsewhere. The general line is under or over 6.5 cards.
Manzano took charge when these two teams met at this venue early in 2015/16 and gave eight cards that day. As mentioned earlier in this piece the average number of cards shown in this fixture recently is seven.
Skybet are offering 3/1 on 65-85pts and that just looks too big given the historical stats. Don't got mad as to get these middle spreads is tricky but, at the price, it's worth a small stake.
