Wow what a rip snorter we have in store as the Old Firm, Rangers and Celtic get it on in the Scottish FA Cup semi-final.
These two teams met in the League Cup in February 2015 in a game Celtic won comfortably 2-0. Obviously due to Rangers' problems over recent years you have to go back to April 2012 for the last meeting before that. That should aid the hype and sense of occasion ahead of this showdown. Not that this fixture needs any hyping of course!
The recent meetings between these two teams have been surprisingly lacking in cards. The past five read as 5-3-7-4-6, an average of five per battle.
Craig Thomson has been coerced out of his Paisley safe house for this one. In his two most recent games controlling the Glasgow giants he gave out five and six cards respectively.
Despite a relatively small number of cards in recent meetings I think this one will be full blooded and is likely to kick off. The bookies obviously agree because the quotes are generally under/over 7 cards. The prices are around 8/11 which isn't overly attractive. Instead I'm backing a red card in the game at 7/4 with William Hill.
