THE incomparable Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) is back with his best card bet from Tuesday's World Cup matches.
Belarus v France | Tuesday 19:45
Our old friends Belarus are back in action tonight as they welcome France to Minsk in their opening World Cup qualification game. I say ‘old friends' because we have profited from their ill-discipline before with a friendly match against Northern Ireland before the Euros springing to mind.
The Belarussians are well into their domestic season and may just surprise a relatively undercooked French outfit. Olivier Giroud has commented that ‘we don't know much about them. We haven't had time to study them'.
The hosts are aiming to qualify for a major tournament for the first time since the split of the Soviet Union. They are up against it in a group which also includes Sweden and Holland.
Belarus beat Norway in a friendly last week and collected two yellow cards in the process. These two sides have only met four times previously. The two most recent encounters France won 4-2 and 3-1 in qualification for World Cup 2014. Belarus collected three yellows in the corresponding fixture in Minsk.
Romanian whisteblower Ovidiu Hategan is in charge tonight. He averages 6.75 cards per game in 2016/17 so far. He gave out nine yellows in two matches during the European Championship in the summer.
The general line tonight is under/over 3.5 cards. You would have to think that the Belarusians would be most likely to collect the most cards of the two teams. With a hot referee in charge and decent recent trends I'm backing Belarus to collect 30+ booking points at 11/8 with Sky Bet.
