GAVIN Murphy (@GamePlanGav) makes his WeLoveBetting bow with a piece focussing on the best bets in his favoured market, the bookings.
Why A Bookings Bet?
Have you ever had a bet on the Number Of Cards market? If your answer is ‘no’ then you are likely to be missing valuable opportunities to gain an advantage over bookmakers. Let me explain…
Our friends in Italy, Spain and Portugal tend to be a passionate bunch. As I‘m married to a Portugues, I can personally vouch for this! This presents us punters with an opportunity to make money as the referees and players in these countries often let their emotions get the better of them as their ‘Latino spirit’ takes over.
Players in the UK often get slated for feigning injury or cynical play – that is our culture. However, on the continent this action is actually encouraged and approved. This plays into our hands when having a punt on these markets.
At this point, I should confess, I am a punter who generally likes to go Over on markets and this week is no different. There are three games in Italy that you should consider to join my Bookings bet fun.
Verona v Roma | Saturday 17.00 | BT Sport
The referee in this game is Marco Guida. During 2014/15 he dished out 100 yellows and six reds over 16 matches. That averages out at 7.2 cards-per-game.
Last term he took charge of two Roma fixtures with an average make up of seven cards-per-game. The call this week therefore is to take Over 5.5 cards at even-money from Bet365.
Palermo v Genoa | Sunday 19.45 | BT Sport Europe
Massimilano Irrati is the man with the whistle on Sunday night and in 19 games last term he brandished 107 yellows and seven reds with an average of 6.6 cards-per-game.
Irrati refereed one of Palermo’s outings with nine cards flashed and dished out a further 13 across the two Genoa games he officiated.
I’ll have a play on Over 5.5 cards at evens with Bet365 again.
Fiorentina v Milan | Sunday 19.45 | BT Sport Europe
Paolo Valeri is the whistleblower here and he issues cards like confetti. During the 2014/15 campaign he issued 107 yellow and a remarkable 12 reds across his 19 games in charge – that’s almost a sending off in each an average of 7.3 cards-per-game.
In five games covering Fiorentina he averaged 6.8 cards-per-game and in the four Milan matches he oversaw he flashed 8.2 cards-per-game.
Let's hope he continues with his preference for all things yellow and red by taking the generous 5/6 on Over 5.5 cards with Bet365.
