TENNIS analyst Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) returns with his best bets from this week's Newport showdown.
ATP Newport| 17th-23th July 2017 | BBC
After Wimbledon is over, the real grass court action gets going at Newport on Monday. This year’s competition features the not so great and the not so good of the sport but there is just something enticing about it.
2/1 favourite Stefan Edberg has been in amazing form this season and has won three Grand Slams. Expect him to go very far in this incredible competition.
Boris Becker is a huge crowd favourite at Newport, but I’m just not convinced he’s the real deal. He’s won just one of his last seven matches and lacks cutting edge to get the job done.
Can't count on Carol
Loads of people have been tweeting about Carol Decker in the last few weeks and there’s no doubt she’s a fine competitor, but at 11/1 I’ll take my money elsewhere.
We’ve now reached the stage of the competition where anything can go wrong and believe me it will. It’s all downhill from here.
We’ve been down this road so many times now and it’s all getting a bit tedious now, don’t you think?
Smith and Sholk to lead the charge
I’m really sweet on Paul Smith getting the nod. He’s had an outstanding season on the grass circuit.
My bet is a confident one. I’ll be backing Tommy Sholk each-way, as I think he's been far too overpriced.
Best Bets
Outright: Gavin Rae to win 7/1 Unibet
Each way: Tommy Schlok 11/1 Ladbrokes
Paul Smith to win 100/1 William Hill
