What a fantastic game to take away the pain of a Monday eh? This must be one of the best Monday night fixtures in recent months and we're sure to learn a lot about the well-being of these clubs after this.
Bookmakers are very keen on the home side and have Arsenal best price 3/4 to take all three points here. While the Gunners have struggled in their tussles against other big clubs they actually have a solid record against Liverpool.
Indeed Arsenal have lost just one of their last eight matches against Liverpool and that came in a humbling 5-1 defeat in February 2014 when Brendan Rodgers' side had just found the rampaging, destructive form that almost took them all the way to the title. Arsene Wenger's side gained their revenge in April this year though with an equally devastating 4-1 win over Liverpool at The Emirates.
And that's the key really, Arsenal are at home here. The North London club have lost just one of their last 15 home league games against Liverpool. They've dominated them on this park and that should continue here.
In terms of this season it's Liverpool who head the pair with six points out of six, but narrow wins over Stoke and Bournemouth has hardly set pulses racing. Indeed it would be fair to say they were fortunate to take all the points in both those games. It's unlikely they'll get the chance to sneak a fortunate win here.
Arsenal kicked off the season deep in self-parody when they lost 2-0 to West Ham at home on the opening weekend of the season. That form hasn't worked out since but the Gunners did grab a narrow win over Crystal Palace eight days ago.
At 3/4 you could hardly call Arsenal a value bet and at over 3/1 the draw wouldn't be the worst bet I've seen so far this season price-wise, but the home side should get the job done.
There's just a feeling that Liverpool have been riding their luck a little so far this season and here's where it might just run out. I fancy Arsenal to win with goals on the menu, so a play of Arsenal/Over 2.5 Goals at 13/8 with Betway makes sense. Five of the last six clashes have gone Over 2.5.
