ANOTHER big test for Southampton as they host Chelsea on Sunday. Who is Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) backing?
Southampton v Chelsea | Sunday 14:05 | Sky Sports 1
Exactly a month ago Southampton were a couple of days away from facing Manchester City in the Premier League. They were second in the table with just one defeat in 14 to their name. They lost the match to Man City and crumbled.
Ronald Koeman's side then went on a losing run of four consecutive games, slipping up against the likes of Burnley and League One Sheffield United.
Things have improved though and the Saints have won their last two matches against Everton and Crystal Palace. But as the Man City game indicated, when faced with one of the top sides they fell apart.
The St Mary's outfit also lost to Arsenal and Manchester United in December, and when up against sides who finished in last season's Top 7 their record stands at – P6 W1 D0 L5. A sobering stat.
It's fair to suggest that the 2014/15 Chelsea model is better than any of the other six sides they've faced so they could be in for a tough time here.
Despite the fact Saints lost by just one goal in four of those five Top 7 defeats, I'm going to be bold here and back Chelsea to win by more than one goal at 5/2 with Skybet. Jose Mourinho's side have achieved that in their last five matches. They've also kept clean sheets in seven of their last 10 encounters. Solid stuff.
