Norwich vs Burnley Prediction & Betting Tips

While it would be wrong to expect a classic at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon, that shouldn't devalue the importance of this game for both sides.

Norwich's chances of staying up appear very slim, with Dean Smith's side currently 10 pts from safety with just eight games to go. Opponents Burnley are four points from the survival spots, with a game in hand on 17th placed Everton.

However, their delight at beating The Toffees on Wednesday night will surely have been deflated a little when Everton beat Manchester United yesterday and Leeds also won, making it more difficult for The Clarets to catch them.

Looking at the two sides it is hard to see where goals are coming from. Of the Burnley side that started against Everton in midweek, just one player – Maxwell Cornet – has scored more than twice this season, while only Teemu Pukki has achieved this feat for Norwich.

The reverse fixture between these two finished 0-0 and with goals likely to be at a premium, I think a draw is value at 43/20 with 888sport. Burnley have drawn 12 of their 29 fixtures this season and I can see them making it unlucky 13 on Sunday afternoon.

Elsewhere, I like the look of Josh Brownhill to get a card at 4/1 with Betway. Brownhill has been booked nine times in 26 matches this season and while the referee for this encounter, Michael Oliver, is less generous with his cards than many other referees – handing out just over three per game on average this season, I think more cards are likely in what is likely to be a bitty, stop-start match.

Moreover, I'm encouraged by Burnley's efforts in the reverse fixture. They saw five bookings in that game, including one for Brownhill.

Given they are up against some speedy wingers – in Cornet and Aaron Lennon, I did consider both Norwich full backs (Max Aarons and Brandon Williams) in this market but think Brownhill's record this season makes him the standout value.
