SCOTTISH football aficionado Gerry Taylor (@thefurlongpole) shares his verdict on Sunday's televised Old Firm derby.
Rangers vs Celtic | Sunday 3rd April 2022, 12:00 | Sky Sports
I’m not going to be foolish enough to get involved in the 1×2 market here as both sides have proven that on their day this season, that they are more than capable of hitting their top form.
The Teddy Bears did so when being ultra-impressive in their 6-4 aggregate despatching of Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League, and The Hoops were imperious in their 3-0 drubbing of Rangers a few months ago.
A price that has caught my eye though, is the 13/10 with BetVictor for Celtic to win the corner count.
Here are some numbers:
- Celtic have won their corner count in 27/27 of their most recent league matches.
- Rangers average 8.00 corners, Celtic typically earn 9.65 flag-kicks per game.
- Celtic since the start of the 2017/18 league season have earned 10-4-1-10-6-9-11-5-14-10-4-3-7-8-11 and 8 corners in league matches against Rangers.
- So, Celtic average 7.56 corners home or away against their city rivals.
So, despite holding the cushion at the top of Premiership, Ange Postecoglou is unlikely to prepare his side to sit in for a draw. Whether or not they win this game, is open to debate. However, one thing that is usually a given – is that his team will play with width, and with the emphasis on attack.
If you fancy also fancy the Hoops to hit around their Old Firm corners average, Over 6 Corners for the Bhoys is available at 9/4 with Bet365.
