BRIGHTON host Liverpool on Saturday from the Premier League. Chris Clark (@ChrisClark1975) shares his verdict.
Brighton vs Liverpool | Saturday 12th March 2022, 12:30 | BT Sport
Brighton are coming into Saturday lunchtime's meeting with Liverpool in poor form. They've lost their last four in the league, and last time out at The Amex they conspired to concede three against Burnley.
It's not the ideal time to face a Liverpool side who despite only scoring one goal in the their last two games, have world class attacking players to choose from week in, week out.
Luis Diaz has settled into life at Anfield like he's played there all his life. He is a tremendous player. Whilst he has only scored one goal in his four matches so far, he is averaging over one shot on-target per-game, and also more than four shots on goal per-game (17 in 4 appearances). The guy is direct and great to watch.
Brighton, meanwhile, since Aaron Webster has been injured have become a little leaky at the back. Graham Potter has flipped and flopped from three-at-the-back, to a conventional back-four, but nothing seems to be stopping the rot.
It could be the case that Tariq Lamptey is at right wing-back on Saturday, or more than likely it will be Joel Veltman at right back. Either way, Diaz will fancy his chances, and the Colombian is priced at 23/4 to score the first goal with Unibet.
Whilst I'm predicting Diaz to run riot, let's go back to Veltman who has picked up eight yellow cards in the league this season in his 23 appearances. Veltman up against the rapid Colombian could be a card waiting to happen, especially with Mike Dean officiating.
The Dutchman is 100/30 with Betfair to pick up a card on Saturday.
Best Bets
Brighton vs Liverpool – Luis Diaz first goalscorer (23/4 Unibet)
Brighton vs Liverpool – Joel Veltman to get a card (100/30 Betfair)
