Two weeks after they last met on a Thursday night in the Premier League, Arsenal and Wolves meet in what genuinely looks like a battle between two potential top four sides.

Arsenal find themselves sixth in the table, but only four points behind Manchester United with three games in hand, while Wolves are six points behind fourth spot but have two matches more to play themselves.

The first encounter between these two was an acrimonious affair, with five yellow cards and a red in game which saw Arsenal edge 1-0. In truth, Arsenal deserved that victory as despite being down to ten men for the last quarter of the match, they won the xG battle 2.01-0.8.

While Arsenal have outperformed their expected goals points total by a few points, Wolves are 10 points ahead of theirs and having witnessed them beat Leicester at the weekend, it is hard to see them sustaining this run. They beat the Foxes through two goals from outside of the box and lost the xG battle 0.55-1.5.

Moreover, they’ve only managed 14 goals from open play in 24 matches this season and while they have a formidable defensive record, it is hard to see them reaching the top four with so little attacking output.

With 36 goals in 23 matches this season, Arsenal are hardly prolific themselves so I like the look of under 2.5 goals again here. It has landed in 18 of Wolves 24 league games and 11 of Arsenal’s 23. That combines for 29 of 47, making the 7/10 Boylesports are offering look like good value.

I do think Arsenal will edge this one, so my other pick is for the home side to win by a single goal. Five of their 13 league wins have been by this manner and six of Wolves eight losses have been by the single goal. That is available at 5/2 with Unibet and looks like excellent value in what I expect to be a tight encounter.
