Liverpool vs Chelsea Betting Preview: Reds to impress ahead of Anfield coronation

In normal circumstances there would be a lot more fanfare around this match. After all, this is the last game of the season at Anfield and fans would get to celebrate a title victory against a side that had deprived them of one is such stunning fashion six years ago.

Much has been made of Liverpool’s recent form – the Reds have trebled their number of league defeats for the season since the Premier League returned – but I think odds against quotes for a home victory are far too big.

Liverpool’s defeats came against Manchester City and Arsenal. The former are a class above anyone else in the league apart from Liverpool while the latter had a huge amount of fortune.

Two sloppy mistakes enabled Arsenal to get the victory but Jurgen Klopp’s men did win the shot count 24-8 and Gunners keeper Emiliano Martinez was Man of The Match. It was a similar story when Liverpool drew 1-1 against Burnley so I have little doubt that they will be motivated for this game.

Jurgen Klopp has tended to play his strongest side still and as well as value in the outright market, I like the look of Liverpool and BTTS, which is available at 13/5 with Bet365.

Chelsea have actually only scored in four of their 11 defeats this season but 21 of their 36 (58%) have seen each outfit obliged as have 19 of Liverpool’s matches (53%). With Chelsea really needing a result in order to secure Champions League football I do not think they will take a backwards step. Frank Lampard must surely know his side are better offensively than defensively and I expect an open encounter.

I did also consider the 2-1 scoreline, which is 17/2 with Bet365 but if I would not be overly surprised if this game finished 5-3 so will take the simpler option.
