RACING anorak Graeme Johnston (@GraemeJ_83) analyses the field for the highlight of on Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival, the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Queen Mother Champion Chase | Wednesday 13th March 2019, 15:30 | ITV1
The Queen Mother Champion Chase is the highlight of day two and another chance to see the great Altior line-up. He's the best horse in training and for many he's the best two-miler in recent years.
The race revolves around Altior (4/9 Betfair). If he's fit and well then he wins. He has beaten everything in the field and nothing can beat him in this line-up.
Min (6/1 Matchbook) is almost nailed on for second. He is a top class two-miler and multiple Grade 1 winner, but he just isn't Altior and unfortunately has to live in his shadow.
So who comes third? I'm going to take a chance on Saint Calvados (50/1 Bet365). Fancied for the Arkle last year he went off like a scalded cat and unsurprisingly trailed home a distance behind the winner.
However, he handles heavy ground and connections will not want to make that mistake again. He doesn't have much to find in these conditions and is my each-way bet for this.
Best Bets
Queen Mother Champion Chase – Saint Calvados each-way (50/1 Bet365)
