Aberdeen v St Mirren| Saturday 16th February 2019, 15:00

Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Ariana Grande. Olivia Colman. Just three of the big stars of 2019 so far. Let's add another name to that illustrious list…Sam Cosgrove.

Back at the start of December last year Cosgrove was that fairly rare species – a regular striker who didn't score goals. The Aberdeen player had just two goals to his name at the club despite being there virtually a whole calendar year. He had made his mark in just one game, a brace last October against St Mirren.

Zero to hero

Then, on the back of a red card the week before, everything changed on December 11th when the Beverley lad scored against Livingston as the Dons win 3-2. Cue the goals…

Cosgrove then scored six in his next four games including a Boxing Day strike against Celtic. The turn of the year didn't perturb him either as he scored two in Aberdeen's win against Hamilton on January 23th as they returned from the winter break.

The 22 year old is continuing to flourish as the season kicks on and he's scored a couple in each of his last two matches, knocking a brace past Rangers and Queen Of The South.

On Saturday he should be in the line up to face lowly St Mirren. Cosgrove has already scored three against them in two games this season and will be relishing this match at the weekend.

Struggling Saints

Aberdeen go into the game as short as 1/4 and will be looking to force the boot on the neck of the pitiful Paisley side. Saints look desperate just now. They were knocked out the Scottish Cup by Championship side Dundee United on Saturday and have lost their last six league matches.

Manager Oran Kearney looks on the brink after never managing to get the Buddies ticking after his September appointment and the Northern Irishmen looked desolate in his post-match interview after last week's Cup match.

St Mirren look destined to return to the Championship and should be easy prey for not only Aberdeen but the shit-hot Cosgrove on Saturday. At 7/4, the former Carlisle man looks a terrific bet to notch anytime.
