DARTS analyst Andrew Francis (@ALeagueAndy) shares his verdict on the best bets from Saturday's Day 10 of the 2019 PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.
We now know the final 32 in this year’s World Championship and we’ve seen everyone play at least once. Round one and two have seen profit, let’s continue that trend into the latter stages.
Dave Chisnall v Kim Huybrechts | Saturday 22nd 2018, 13:30 | Sky Sports
This is an intriguing match up with the two looking a lot closer than many would have suspected before the tournament. Chizzy got through his second round match with Josh Payne by the skin of his teeth after showing great resolve to come from behind whilst Huybrechts put in a superb performance against Daniel Larsson with a 103.26 average, the second highest in the tournament so far. The handicap favours Huybrechts and that looks the value selection when paired with our next choice.
Ryan Searle v William O’Connor | Saturday 22nd 2018, 19:15 | Sky Sports
The bookies can’t split these two, they are only 12 places apart on the Order of Merit and it looks hard to pick a winner by using any metrics. It promises to be a tight encounter but the two surprise packages of the tournament will be looking to make it through to the fourth round and a potential tie against Michael Smith. The handicap market thinks Searle should be taking the win so backing him in a double presents a nice opportunity to double your money.
Daryl Gurney v Jamie Lewis | Saturday 22nd December 2018, 14:30 | Sky Sports
Daryl Gurney was, perhaps, the standout performer in the previous round as he efficiently took apart Ross Smith 3-0 with a 100 average without ever really looking like he left first gear. This could end up being Gurney’s year and it’s not outside the realms of possibility that he could whitewash Lewis here too. Lewis battled hard to come past Cody Harris in round two but never looked truly comfortable and this could be a short trip to the oche for Fireball.
Gary Anderson v Jermaine Wattimena | Saturday 22nd December 2018, 20:15 | Sky Sports
The bookies are banking on Anderson coming through this tie with ease with the whitewash shorter than any type of Wattimena win. I think that could be a little naive though with Wattimena not being a slouch, as proven by his 3-0 win over Michael Barnard in round two. To beat the handicap Wattimena just has to win one set, something that he’s more than capable of doing.
Michael van Gerwen v Max Hopp | Saturday 22nd December, 21:00 | Sky Sports
This is similar to the Anderson/Wattimena match with MvG sitting at 11/10 for the whitewash. Again the handicap means a win for Hopp with just one set and after a 3-0 win over Danny Noppert in round two, he’ll have plenty of confidence coming into the next round. van Gerwen will have to be at his best to pick up the whitewash but it’s not hard to see Hopp starting fast, something which unsettles van Gerwen, and picking up an early set.
