THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE continues on returns night. Here Adam Goodwin (@AGJournalism) picks out his favourite fancies from Spurs' visit to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid v Tottenham | Tuesday 17th October 2017, 19:45 | BT Sport
In arguably the best game of matchday two, reigning champions Real Madrid take on Tottenham at the Bernabeu.
A lot of people expected Dortmund to prove a real test for Real Madrid in their previous game in Group H, but Madrid turned on the style and defeated the German side 3-1. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale got the goals and it’ll prove to be a real battle between them and the Tottenham defence on Tuesday.
Spurs went to Cyprus and dispatched of APOEL, smashing three past Cypriot champions. Harry Kane bagged the perfect hat-trick and looks in fine fettle heading into this game.
Real Madrid have only lost one Champions League group game at home since 2010, when they were beaten 4-3 by Schalke, and it would take one hell of an effort from Tottenham to do a similar thing.
Kane key to Spurs
It’s hard to imagine that Harry Kane could’ve improved on his goalscoring accolades of last season, but the England striker has carried on scoring goals out-and-out every week.
He’s already score five goals in two games in the Champions League this season and you wouldn’t put it past him to add that against Madrid. He’s 6/1 to score the first goal on Tuesday, and seeing that he was as short as 1/3 to score anytime on Saturday versus Bournemouth, that seems like decent value.
He’ll also want to impress his potential new employers…
Los Blancos to bag a victory
I also fancy Real Madrid to win. Looking at their incredible home form in the Champions League, it’s hard to imagine that Tottenham will be able to get anything from this match-up.
And with both team’s quality in attack I reckon there might be a fair few goals. Real Madrid to win and Over 4.5 Goals is 10/3 with Betfair and although this might seem far-fetched, this is going to be a cracker so don’t rule out six or seven goals in this match.
