OUR corners man Russ Butterworth (@cornerkicktips) has found an angle on a League Two match this week.

Crawley v Barnet | Saturday 15:00

We were rewarded with a winner last week when Oldham won the vast majority of the 13 corners that featured in their away defeat at Gillingham. The early home goal was always likely to lower expectancy for home corners but despite having little to play for, the away team managed a total of 10 corners.

This week I’ve picked two teams who like Oldham, are already assured of another year in the same division.

Crawley have had a poor second half to the season which has gone into freefall in the last month with them now having lost their last seven games.

In fairness, they have faced Northampton, Bristol Rovers and Oxford in that run but it’s still an unenviable record they should be desperate to end here.

Overall, Barnet have had a decent season back in League 2, improving from a poor start over the first half and after reaching 15th in the table, have practically made the position their own over the last 14 games.

They have been extremely resilient results wise since Christmas, winning two and drawing six of their last nine away games and will certainly be looking to avoid defeat here to ensure they hit the 60 point target that Martin Allen set his team at the start of the season.

Despite Crawley’s recent poor form, their corner figures are encouraging, winning six at Dagenham & Redbridge last time out and have averaged eight team corners over their last three home games. The longer term averages are not surprisingly somewhat lower but are still impressive at 6.75 over their last eight games and 6.5 over the last 16.

Barnet have conceded an average 6.88 over their last eight away games and 6.25 over the last 16 and with five of their last eight opponents hitting seven or more corners, the stats suggest the home team should be capable of providing the majority of the corners needed to win our bet.

Crawley have also conceded their fair share of corners at the Broadfield Stadium, averaging 6.75 corners over their last eight home games and 5.69 over the past 16.

Their visitors, Barnet have averaged just over five team corners over their last eight away games so I am hopeful they will contribute their fair share to take us over the line in this one.

Both teams have averaged over 11 corners in their last eight respective home and away games so the evens available for Over 11 total Asian corners looks a decent price.
