WILL Jurgen Klopp get his first win as Liverpool manager on Wednesday? Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) looks at their game against Bournemouth.

Liverpool v Bournemouth | Wednesday 19:45 | Sky Sports 1

For the second successive season Liverpool meet Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup. The game last year was played eight days before Christmas and three days after the Reds had lost to Manchester United in the league.

That Old Trafford defeat heaped pressure on Brendan Rodgers and his side entered the game against the Championship leaders under some pressure. They got the win though and from there went 13 matches unbeaten in the league.

While the circumstances are completely different here, there are a few parallels. This will be Jurgen Klopp's fourth game in charge and his side are still looking for a win and maybe if they get it (like last year) it could set them on the road to a strong run of form?

After a good start to the campaign Bournemouth have suddenly found the demands of the Premier League very tough. Two successive 5-1 defeats to Manchester City and Tottenham respectively have pushed them down to 17th in the table.

This dip in form is almost certainly due to the cruel run of injuries they've had to deal with and I doubt they'll care much about their prospects in this competition with their Premier League status under threat.

Injury issues aren't exclusive to Bournemouth though. Liverpool have a striker crisis on their hands with Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke both out of this game and we saw how limp they looked against Spurs a week and a half ago with Divock Origi as their main man.

While this injury crisis continues at Anfield and the new methods of Klopp take time to form at the club it's hard to have much zeal about backing them at odds of 8/15. The Cherries pushed Liverpool all the way in their August league meeting and are as big as 7/1 to win here.

It's easy to assume we won't see many goals in this match with no Sturridge, Benteke or Callum Wilson but Bournemouth are still scoring. Eddie Howe's side have scored in their last 10 games in all competitions and they may be able to contribute here. Liverpool meanwhile have scored more than once in just one of their 14 matches this season. A grim statistic.

Looking at the profiles of both these sides a punt on 2-3 Total Goals appeals to me. Yes, it's the Capital One Cup and anything could happen on Wednesday night but I'm happy getting stuck into a bet that's paid out in seven of Liverpool's last nine games.
