IT'S been an awful couple of months for Newcastle, will it get worse on Sunday? We asked Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79).
Newcastle v Tottenham | Sunday 16:00 | Sky Sports 1
If I'm really honest with myself, I think the most interesting aspect of this game will be to see how many Newcastle fans decide not to turn up.
As I mentioned on Monday night I really feel that if the season rolled on for another month they'd be in real danger of going down. It's just the sheer ineptitude of the bottom five sides that is making the last few weeks of the season (relatively) sweat-free for the Magpies.
Five defeats in a row. Four blanks out of five. Nine defeats in 13. One goal in their last five matches. Let's just leave it there eh? The fact there could be a poisonous atmosphere at the ground on Sunday as well just adds fuel to the fire of direness regarding Newcastle.
Opponents Tottenham seem to be running out of steam on the evidence of the last few weeks and that's not a surprise. The club has had a brutal year with deep progress in the League Cup and Europa League registered alongside a decent tilt at the Champions League spots.
It's one win in four for Mauricio Pochettino's side and with Burnley, Leicester and Aston Villa in that band of games that's fairly unimpressive.
As much as I admire this young Spurs side, I expect them to contribute to a poor match here. Three blanks in their last four matches hardly inspires, and when you consider who they're playing against then the 21/20 on Under 2.5 Goals looks lovely.
