A winning NAP for Callum Jones (@goaldust) last week and he's confident of more glory here.

FC Halifax Town v Welling United | Saturday 15:00

It’s difficult for me to be objective when it comes to Halifax Town, as it’s the club I spent time working for a few seasons ago. I must say though, I thought they were doomed in November, as their league form read P20 W2 D4 L14.

They parted ways with Neil Aspin, who did a magnificent job during his time at the Shay, replaced him with Darren Kelly, who failed to steady the ship during his brief spell, and eventually brought in Jim Harvey, who has been a revelation.

He’s made such a huge difference to a side who were clearly bereft of confidence, and since their 6-3 humbling at home to Braintree in November, they’ve gone 11 games unbeaten in league and cup, which is a fabulous effort.

The Shaymen’s success in recent seasons has hinged on their home form, which has been fairly terrible this season. They have showed signs on their recent run of recapturing that, going seven games without defeat in their own back yard, winning four of those.

This weekend sees the visit of Welling, who are arguably the worst team in the division at present. They’ve won just one of their last 13 fixtures, and are on a ten game losing streak. Poor recent form has seen them replace Halifax in the National League drop zone, and manager Loui Fazakerley paid the price on Monday as he was shown the door.

He’s been replaced by Dean Frost, who was part of the coaching staff during Jamie Day’s reign a few years ago, so clearly it shouldn’t be too much of a difficult transition.

Frost has also moved quickly to improve his beleaguered squad, bringing in Brentford midfielder James Ferry and Millwall defender Noah Chesmain on one-month loan deals. Both are 18, so should be able to add some much needed energy into the struggling Wings.

Having said that, Frost has only had three days with his new squad, and it’s hard for me to believe he’ll have been able to make any significant improvements.

Sometimes it sounds too easy to believe a team unbeaten in 11 will beat a side who haven’t won in ten, but I don’t think we need to ask too many questions here. SkyBet offer 3/4 about a home win, and even at that price, I think there’s some value to be had.
