THE king of Anytime Goalscorer bets Gavin Horsfall (@GHorsfall) returns with three solid picks for the weekend.

Burton v Doncaster | Saturday 15:00

Three goals in two for Everton loanee Conor Grant who has played well during Doncaster’s recent good run, scoring four in eight appearances since the end of October.

The 20-year old may well have turned up in this Notebook sooner had it not been the majority of his efforts on goal coming from the 20-30 yard mark, it was good then to see him venture further forward against Crewe last time out and get on the end of a James Coppinger cross.

Rovers have looked impressive this last month and could easily kick on in the New Year having played eight of the top half on the road already, 20/1 for a top 6 finish if you’re that way inclined.

Stevenage v Accrington | Saturday 15:00

Eight goals for Stevenage attacking midfielder Tom Pett last season following his move from Wealdstone means the 24 year old is probably behind schedule this term, helping himself to just the one.

There are definitely signs in our favour though as Pett continues to operate in a more advanced central role during Boro’s recent good form (seven unbeaten in the league now) and continues to do most of his good work facing opponent’s goal.

Striker Jamille Matt was the latest to suggest Pett has deserved more goals from stand-out performances and there should be plenty of opportunities in Saturday’s game against Accrington where shrewd punters must surely be on the over 8.5 goals.

Shrewsbury v Swindon | Saturday 15:00

Games against Gillingham, Peterborough, Walsall and Sheffield Utd can give Shrewsbury the benefit of the doubt during a run of poor form but in truth they were second best in their Cup replay against Grimsby and may very well be feeling the effects of three consecutive weeks of Tuesday /Saturday fixtures.

Opponents Swindon have played half as many games in that period and visit in good form anyway looking for a fourth straight win. There's no reason why Nicky Ajose should go off as big as 13/5 here after seven goals in his last nine.
