Scottish Football Tips | Willie Duncan’s NAP | 17th October 2015

GOING for a fifth straight winner, Willie Duncan (@Willie_Duncan) returns with another Scottish NAP this weekend.

St Johnstone v Partick Thistle | Saturday 15:00

Poor old Partick Thistle. The Scottish season is barely two months old and I've already backed against the Jags twice – and this weekend, I'm going to make it a hat-trick.

I don't hold any grudges against Alan Archibald's side, though. It's simply the case that, for reasons best known to the odds compilers, St Johnstone can be backed at odds-against to claim all three points against Thistle this weekend – at home.

The Saints are unbeaten in six competitive matches at McDiarmid Park so far this season, winning each of their last three, while they also demolished Premiership leaders Aberdeen 5-1 at Pittodrie before the international break.

Furthermore, St Johnstone have lost just one of their last 14 league matches on home soil – a phenomenal run of results for the Perth side.

Saints, too, have been boosted this week by manager Tommy Wright rejecting the chance to take over at Tannadice and committing to the Club by signing a new deal.

For Saints to be odds-against, Partick Thistle must be coming into this game in fantastic form, right? Wrong.

While the Jags defeated Dundee United 3-0 in their last outing, that was their first win of the season and I've yet to be convinced that the result was anything other than Thistle being the better of two poor teams on the day.

Partick have managed to score away from home just once in five league matches so far this season and have found the net in just three of their 11 competitive outings this season.

I just can't see past a home win this weekend and I have absolutely no idea why Saints are 11/10 to win in Perth.

When the Saints go marching in, I expect to collect – you should too. St Johnstone at 11/10 is my best bet from Scotland this weekend.

  1. This comment applies to Dino’s article too. I am very much of the same opinion of both guys, Saint Johnstone to win for sure. +2.5 goals in the game too, for sure.

But I couldn’t decide which one to go with. +2.5 goals offers more safety imo but Sat J at home are just awesome so how could I not go with that with 1-0 & 2-0 insurance.

Solution? St J to win & +2.5 goals in the game @ 3.5(5/2).

Hopefully We Three shall be cheering at 4:45 on Saturday

Good luck pal. It’s great to see so many strong minds backing the Saints this weekend. Fingers crossed.
