HE'S desperate to bounce back and Willie Duncan (@Willie_Duncan) has a big price up his sleeve this week.
Partick Thistle v St Johnstone | Saturday 15:00
Well, it had to happen, I suppose. On Monday morning, I was summoned to WeLoveBetting Towers for what can best be described as “The Hairdryer Treatment”.
The reason for it, of course, was Greenock Morton's pitiful performance in losing to Forfar Athletic last week. I tried to explain that it was all Jim Duffy's fault (the irony of Jim Duffy being responsible for me getting “The Hairdryer” wasn't lost on me) but I was left in no doubt that I must do better.
In fact, my form has been so bad that even Kenny McDowall has written to me and told me to keep my chin up – and look at what has happened to him this week.
In times of trouble, you need to back a team that you can rely on and, surely, there are few teams more reliable than the most profitable team for punters in Scotland. Yes, this weekend, I'm lumping on St Johnstone at a massive 21/10 with William Hill to win away at Partick Thistle.
The scrap at the foot of the Premiership table has been exciting in recent weeks with Ross County, Motherwell and St Mirren all picking up points – and, somehow, Partick's slump in form has almost fallen off the radar.
Alan Archibald's side have won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions and are in real danger of being sucked into the battle at the bottom.
St Johnstone, by contrast, are aiming for a top-six finish and should be in confident mood ahead of this weekend's fixture, having lost just one of their last six league games.
Saints have won their last two away games – against Dundee United and Celtic respectively – and they look to be tremendous value for another important win this weekend.
The more cautious (sensible) among you might be tempted to side with the Saints at a generous 11/10 in the draw no bet market – but I'm on the attack and I want a big win!
So, I'm hoping that fortune favours the brave (greedy) and tucking into the juicy 21/10 quotes for Tommy Wright's men to come good on Saturday. St Johnstone to beat Partick Thistle at 21/10 is my best bet from Scotland this weekend.
