The Football League Longshot | 29th November 2014

MAKING his second appearance on WeLoveBetting, Chris Quinn (@chrisquinn3) picks out a big price from the Football League this weekend.

Shrewsbury v Burton | Saturday 15:00

They were a few eyebrows raised when Burton replaced Gary Rowett with the untried Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, but he's had a terrific start with two wins out of two.

Now they go to Shrewsbury to take on Micky Mellon's side and of course this will be tough as the Shrews are strong at home. But let's not forget they lost at Exeter last week, and I've a feeling the fact they've gone deep in a couple of Cup competitions might just be catching up with them.

I like scouring the press for clues when I'm punting and a quote from Burton's Robbie Weir caught my eye this week. He said, “A new manager coming in is just what the lads needed. The manager has come in and the lads are buzzing about it. We've had two great wins and we've got our spark back.”

It all seems very positive at Burton, they're in good form and they're above Shrewsbury in the table. So why are they as big as 4/1 with William Hill? I'm on.

Rotherham v Blackpool | Saturday 15:00

I'm a Birmingham fan so I went up to watch my team face Rotherham last weekend. We won 1-0 and it was a really comfortable victory, Rotherham were really disappointing. Their game plan consisted of knocking it long to Alex Revell and feeding off the scraps. It didn't work.

They face Blackpool on Saturday, and it's fair to say I have less faith in them than Birmingham to thwart Rotherham, but I think they can pick up something here.

Rotherham's centre backs looked really uncomfortable and uneasy last week when put under pressure, and I think the likes of Ishmael Miller may be able to exploit that. Blackpool get out the traps well and have scored early goals on a few occasions this season. I'm hoping they do that again here and manage to cling on.

Best Bets

Shrewsbury v Burton – Burton to win (4/1 William Hill)

Rotherham v Blackpool – Blackpool/Draw Double Chance (23/20 Boylesports)
