Look North: Buddies to suffer Ibrox misery

PROUD Scot (@chrisgraham79) pinpoints his best bet from the weekend Scottish Premiership action.

Rangers v St Mirren| Saturday 2nd February 2019, 15:00

Ibrox. An unlucky part of the world for me. I had my Walkman stolen from a bus outside the stadium in 1997 when attending a match there. Then four years later, while renting a freezing, horrid flat in the area, all my CD's were nicked by the landlord's gardener. If I ever return to Copeland Road it will be with a great deal of trepidation and angst.

Kearney's Struggles

I expect St Mirren to have as desperate a time as I did in the South Side of Glasgow this coming Saturday. Oran Kearney's side look doomed as they look up to 11 sides in the Scottish Premiership.

Kearney's four month tenure hasn't delivered much despite holding Celtic to a draw in his opening match. 14 of his following 18 league matches in charge have been defeats and they look unlikely to escape from the bottom two.

There's a lack of spark and ingenuity about the Paisley side. Bar Simeon Jackson they look a very uninspiring bunch and I can't image they'll cause Rangers many problems.

Away from home no side has conceded more than St Mirren in the top-flight and a goals conceded per game of 2.45 doesn't bode well.

Rattled Morelos

I'm happy to invest in Rangers's attacking prowess on Saturday. The Gers have scored three in their last two matches and the signing of Jermaine Defoe has no doubt inspired the always-rattled Alfredo Morelos to maintain his place as the top man at the club.

Steven Gerrard benched Defoe last weekend against Livingston and it could be a similar story here as he looks to give Morelos a starring role then fall back on the veteran later in the game. It all sounds scary for St Mirren.

At the prices I'm happy to back Rangers to score Over 2.5 Goals at Ibrox. It's copped five times this season in the league at home and it's fair to say the 54 time champions have pushed the pedal when up against the minnows of this league. They put three past Livingston, four through Dundee and breached Motherwell seven times.

A miserable day at Ibrox awaits for the Buddies, and I know exactly how that feels.
