PDC World Darts Championship: Three fancies to follow for Day 2

0

DARTS analyst Andrew Francis (@ALeagueAndy) shares his verdict on the best bets from Day 2 of the 2019 PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.

Michael Barnard v Jose de Sousa | Friday 14th December 2018, 12:40 | Sky Sports

This one should be a tight match with Michael Barnard sitting 82st in the PDC rankings, and whilst Jose de Sousa isn’t ranked, he more than matches his opponents in the stats.

Barnard has the better 3-dart average by only three points whilst de Sousa has the fourth-highest outshot percentage in the second quarter meaning this one should be an even contest with Barnard just about sneaking the win.

Jose de Sousa +1.5 handicap is the call at evens with Bet365.

Simon Stevenson v Ted Evetts | Friday 14th December 2018, 19:50 | Sky Sports

Ted Evetts represents the new generation of players here with Simon Stevenson being two years older than his opponent.

This one should be fairly tight with Stevenson being the higher ranked player but Evetts looking better statistically. It could be a close call but I think Evetts (4/6 Bet365) has enough here to sneak a 3-2 win and advance to face Adrian Lewis.

Paul Nicholson v Kevin Burness | Friday 14th December 2018, 14:00 | Sky Sports

Paul Nicholson comes into the match as favourite and rightly so with ‘The Asset' beating his opponent in every stats metric and being almost 100 places higher in the PDC Order of Merit.

This one should be fairly academic with Kevin Burness also making his debut in the competition and he could struggle to match Nicholson on the big stage.

Take Nicholson to kick-off an attractive treble.

Danny Noppert v Royden Lam | Friday 14th December 2018, 19:10 | Sky Sports

Those who have been following me on Twitter will know I’ve tipped Danny Noppert to go pretty far in this tournament with a 3rd Round match-up with Michael van Gerwen on the cards.

The only area where Noppert struggles is his outshot percentage but in every other way Noppert should be taking a convincing win here.

His odds of 2/7 don’t give us much value though and it’ll be worth pairing him up with two more favourites to find some value.

Chris Dobey v Boris Koltsov | Friday 14th December 2018, 20:30 | Sky Sports

This one should also be fairly academic with Chris Dobey being the superior in the stats department whilst also well over 100 places higher in the Order of Merit than his opponent.

The odds again aren’t in our sides but a small multiple gives us a nice way to keep doubling our money and growing the profit as we go.

Add Dobey to a treble along with Nicholson and Noppert for a 6/5 shot at Bet365.

Best Bets

Michael Barnard v Jose de Sousa – Jose de Sousa +1.5 handicap (1/1 Bet365)

Simon Stevenson v Ted Evetts – Ted Evetts win (4/6 Bet365)

Treble – Paul Nicholson, Danny Noppert and Chris Dobey to win (6/5 Bet365)
