Look North – Resurgent Well to punish dreadful Dundee

Motherwell v Dundee | Saturday 3rd November 2018, 15:00

I'm plunging towards the bottom end of the Scottish Premiership this week in search of a winner. Fir Park (a venue where I watched Queen Of The South lose in the 1997 Challenge Cup Final to Falkirk) is the place to be from a betting point of view, if not an aesthetic view as Motherwell host Dundee.

Dundee have been heroically awful so far this season with 10 defeats from 11 league matches and relegation looks a real possibility. Neil McCann was at the helm for the first eight sorry games but after a 2-1 loss to Kilmarnock he was shown the door last month.

Jim McIntyre has come in but in some ways the form of the side has got even worse. McIntyre's numbers read P3 L3 F0 A12 after convincing defeats to Celtic, Hearts and newly promoted Livingston. Wednesday's 5-0 loss to Celtic was all too predictable and McIntyre offered “no positives” after the game as his side were predictably picked apart.

Tide turned for Well?

After two Cup Final appearances last season for Motherwell you'd have to say that the 2018/19 campaign has started well below par. The Steelmen have won just two of their 10 league games and look a shadow of their 2017/18 vintage.

I'm hoping the tide may have turned after a much needed win on Wednesday night. Well saw off a poor St Mirren side at the Simple Digital Arena by two goals to nil and it was the perfect tonic for manager Stephen Robinson as he spoke of his deep belief in his young players.

The Fir Park club have struggled at home this season, indeed they've yet to win there in the league this season but this should be their easiest test of the Premiership campaign. Earlier this year Well held Celtic and Rangers and beat Hearts on home soil so should feel good up against Dundee.

Motherwell's win on Wednesday might just kick them on this weekend while Dundee look in a perilous state.  Robinson's side are 4/5 to win in 90 but I'll be greedy and back them to win conceding 1 goal on the Asian Handicap. A win by exactly one goal will see my stake returned with a bigger win offering a full payout.

Best Bets

Motherwell v Dundee – Motherwell -1 Asian Handicap (7/5 188BET)
