Horse Racing – Each-way outside to excel in Sprint Cup

The Unibet Mile is a Group 3 and six go to post here. The ground is quite soft which should actually suit most of the field and this is an interesting little race.

Looking through the runners, it shapes as if the unexposed types are the ones to concentrate on and I'm backing a young Sir Michael Stoute horse who is potentially top class.

Regal Reality (13/8 Ladbrokes) is having only his fourth start here and is an exciting sort. He won at Goodwood last time where he was the morning favourite at 5/2 only to win at 10/1, so it came as something of a surprise to connections.

To me, they expect him to improve with age and this seems the logical next step for him. This is a step up in grade however, I suspect he will take it in his stride.

The Sprint Cup is the highlight of the weekend and a race I love.

The race revolves around Harry Angel (11/8 SkyBet), who is the best horse in the race by some way and I expect him to be hard to beat. However, he's returning from an injury and what was a horrible experience at Royal Ascot and I'm backing one each-way at a huge price.

Donjuan Triumphant (25/1 Boylesports) is something of a forgotten horse and he's an interesting runner here. On ratings, he's only got a few pounds to find with all bar the favourite but he has something of a ‘home advantage' here.

He's ran five times at Haydock, winning twice and coming second twice. He ran a poor race in this race two years ago where he was sent off at only 7/1 and I expect him to run better this time around.

Some of his form this season has been encouraging and given his love for the track he represents an interesting each -ay selection for this race on ground he will adore.

Best Bets

2:25 Haydock – Regal Reality to win  (13/8 Ladbrokes)

4:15 Haydock – Donjuan Triumphant each-way (25/1 Boylesports)

I grew up watching Hearts games with my dad and playing football at every opportunity so betting on it was the logical next step! Football coupons became a Saturday ritual and it introduced me into the world of horse racing. I started watching it on a regular basis, and after Galileo's Derby win in 2001 I was hooked. I follow both flat and national hunt racing attending the northern meetings when possible.
