MLS – Canadians can dominate overnight action

MLS expert Luke Beaumont (@_LukeBeaumont) has found two gems from Sunday's early hours MLS action.

Toronto vs Los Angeles | Sunday 2nd September, 01:00 | Sky Sports

Toronto host LAFC at BMO Field in what is going to be a family affair as Toronto captain Michael Bradley is set to take on his father and LAF manager, Bob for the first time.

The Canadian side were beaten away at Portland last time out and still sit six points outside of the playoffs. However, they will be buoyed by D.C. United’s failure to take advantage as they were defeated at home by Philadelphia in midweek.

LAFC are having a good season under the stewardship of Bob Bradley as they’re third-placed in the Western Conference. Although, two wins in their last eight games and no away win since June doesn’t make for great reading.

Toronto fielded a weakened side in Portland during the week, so their big guns such as Sebastian Giovinco and Jonathan Osorio will return for this weekend’s game against the LA side. Back goals in this one as 11 of LAFC’s 14 away games this season have seen over 2.5 goals and Toronto have won four of their last five home games with each seeing three goals or more.

Toronto to win and over 2.5 goals is 31/20 with BetVictor.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs San Jose Earthquakes | Sunday 2nd September, 03:00

This is the second meeting between the two sides within a week as Vancouver travelled to San Jose last weekend and picked up a 3-2 win despite going 2-0 down. The Whitecaps scored their three goals in the space of nine second half minutes – hopefully that explains to you how bad the Earthquakes are.

Vancouver score a lot of goals at home, so expect them to enjoy what should be a comfortable evening for them on Saturday night. Four out of the Whitecaps’ last six home games in MLS have seen them find the net a minimum of three times, while the Earthquakes have only won one away game in their last eight attempts.

The Whitecaps are heavy favourites in this one and deservedly so. They’re made short at 1/2 to take all three points, but 13/8 (Sky Bet) to score 3+ goals at home against the worst team in the league looks very promising.

Best Bets

Toronto v Los Angeles – Toronto to win and Over 2.5 goals (31/20 Bet Victor)

Vancouver Whitecaps v San Jose Earthquakes – Vancouver to score 3+ goals (13/8 Sky Bet)

I grew up a Huddersfield Town fan because of my old man, and I still support them to this day (Currently reaping the rewards in the big time). Our typical Saturday consisted of a quick trip to the bookies before spending the afternoon at the football. I’d create a very optimistic 10-fold every weekend and my Dad would kindly throw a couple of quid on – Although they never came in. I fell in love with Major League Soccer a few years ago, it’s an entertaining league and fun to have a punt on. I’m a student sports journalist and I run an award-winning MLS website. My ultimate goal is to move to the United States full-time following my graduation. My main hobbies are the gym, Joe Rogan’s podcast, watching Huddersfield Town, and listening to Oasis
