Horse Racing – 7/2 shot to breeze to victory at Newbury

HORSE RACING boff Graeme Johnston (@GraemeJ_83) picks out his best bet from Saturday's card.

3:35 Newbury| Hungerford Stakes | ITV4

The Hungerford Stakes is generally a high class race and to me this is a fairly good renewal. There's plenty of group form on offer but at these weights a previous Group 1 winner stands out to me.

Gustav Klimt was a horse I expected to take high rank this season, however since his winning return in April he lost six in a row with varying performances along the way. At his best he would win this, but we don't always see this and with the stable having a rare quiet spell, especially in the UK, I'm against him.

Librissa Breeze (7/2 Paddy Power) is a proven group one performer who tends to excel in the second half of the season. He's run three times this season and his last run was very promising. He was second in this last year and it shapes as if 7 furlongs will be his optimum trip now.

He would prefer softer ground however he looks the one for me in this.

Best Bets

3:35 Newbury – Librissa Breeze to win (7/2 Paddy Power)

About Author

I grew up watching Hearts games with my dad and playing football at every opportunity so betting on it was the logical next step! Football coupons became a Saturday ritual and it introduced me into the world of horse racing. I started watching it on a regular basis, and after Galileo's Derby win in 2001 I was hooked. I follow both flat and national hunt racing attending the northern meetings when possible.
