Denmark v France – More of the same expected from Les Bleus

FRANCE are the only side in Group C that have already qualified going into the final fixtures, meaning that Denmark need at least a point here. Can they get what it needed on Tuesday afternoon? Ross Casey (@RossCasey24) offers his World Cup betting advice for their clash in Moscow.

Denmark v France | Tuesday 26th June 2018, 15:00 | ITV

This match is a very interesting one from a betting perspective as France are available at an odds-against price with Marathon at 121/100, despite the fact of course that they have already qualified and may well rest some players.

Denmark have been well organised and workmanlike in both of their matches so far, having less possession than both Peru and Australia, but they have looked solid defensively, conceding just once so far – a contentious penalty at that!  The Red-White are a best price of 5/1 with Marathon.

Denmark

The reliance on Christian Eriksen for Denmark is pretty vast with the Spurs star top scoring in qualifying with eight goals  – double the number notched by Thomas Delaney, and four times more than both strikers Andreas Cornelius and Nicola Jorgenson. He was the scorer again last time out with a sublime finish against Australia too.

Interestingly, Denmark are capable of scoring hatfuls of goals in single games – see their 5-1 demolition of Ireland. But of late, their goals have dried up with just six scored in their last eight fixtures.

Whilst again, they looked short of a fruitful attack their defence held up – this Danish wall has now conceded just one goal in their last six games. It will be interesting to see how they approach this game as a draw would be enough to guarantee a place in the knockouts.

France

France haven't exactly been on fire this tournament and yet they are on six points from two games, conceding just one goal in the process. They made changes after their first game and Olivier Giroud certainly gives them a focal point of attack.

The group winners will play their Last 16 tie just four-days after this fixture, so changes and early withdrawals are possible, which is to be expected from a squad with the depth of France.

Les Bleus have beaten Denmark six times in their last seven attempts, although the Danes have history of beating them at the World Cup with a 2-0 win in 2002.

The betting angle

France to win is my pick here is my pick here – despite Denmark being excellent defensively, I think that the France attack will just about find enough to pick up the three points again like they have done in each of their last two World Cup fixtures.

Yes France don't need to win here, but they will be looking to put in their first impressive performance on their way to the knockouts and I see Les Bleus talented attacking line having the ability to break through the Danish wall and also don't see the Danes as much of an attacking threat.

It is an odds-against shot at 121/100 with Marathon, ans I am happy with the available price on this particular World Cup selection.
