Blackburn v Bradford – Don’t underestimate the Bantams

FOOTBALL LEAGUE expert Ross Casey (@RossCasey24) takes a look at Thursday night's live fixture between Blackburn and Bradford.

Blackburn v Bradford | Thursday 29th March 2018, 19:45 | Sky Sports

Tony Mowbray's Blackburn side are on a seven match unbeaten run of late, with five wins secured in that sequence of results. That impressive form has meant they are now just two points behind league leaders Shrewsbury and can go above them into the automatic promotion places as Wigan have a further game in hand.

Their home form in particular has been very good, with just two defeats in League One at Ewood Park and 11 wins to their name already. Importantly, no side in the division has scored more goals at home than Blackburn and the likes of Adam Armstrong, Bradley Dack and Danny Graham have caused havoc to many a League One team already.

There is a slight worry about them here though at an odds on price of 8/15 with bet365. This will be the first time that Blackburn have played in 19 days, with the likes of Charlie Mulgrew playing international football and only just getting back to Blackburn on Wednesday.

Bradford, on the other hand, have played three matches in that time. Will it be a case of fresh legs having the advantage or that the break in play for Rovers will cause an issue in terms of cohesion?

Bradford

Bradford play their second of three live Sky Sports live fixtures in just 24 days as the broadcaster clearly believes they will be in the play-off shake up come the end of the season.

The Bantams need to improve on recent results however, as the win over Gillingham on the weekend was their first in 12, which has left them four points adrift of the sixth and final play off spot.

A big issue has been their inability to score goals of late. A record of just seven goals scored in 12 matches has been a major disappointment. They failed to even have a shot on target in 90 minutes against Wigan a few weeks ago!

However, top scorer Charlie Wyke is back from his three game suspension for this match and second top scorer Paul Taylor was back on the bench last weekend after injury, so their goal threat should be increased.

The betting angle

I am going to back Both Teams To Score (11/10 William Hill) at Ewood Park on Thursday night.

Blackburn have worries over the fact they have not played in 19 days and with Rovers keeping just four clean sheets in their last 14 matches and Bradford getting back to full capacity in an attacking sense.
