I am gutted that the Cardinals fell apart in the second-half last week, but we go again with a nice matchup for MNF as the Chiefs welcome the Redskins to Arrowhead Stadium.

Both teams have surprised me early on in the season, with Washington’s defence absolutely dominating Oakland last week and Kansas City have evolved into the type of explosive offence that compliments their opportunistic defence – I don’t think anyone saw either coming.

The Chiefs have actually slowed down a little since their week one opening salvo against the Patriots and have looked more like they were last year – they can score in bunches when needed (as you would expect from an undefeated start), but also have gone long stretches with minimal points in the last two weeks.

With that mind, I think this is going to be more of a defensive battle than the line suggests so I’m going to back this game to go Under 49.5 points.

The Chiefs have a host of offensive options

It’s not just because of the Chiefs looking to have regressed a little offensively in recent weeks, it’s also because I do believe the Redskins defence can be as good as they were last week against the Raiders.

Washington’s DL destroyed one of the better OLs on paper and with Chiefs OL Eric Fisher questionable with a back injury they could have another good performance. With an ascending DL, they also have one of the best CBs in the league in Josh Norman who I’m sure will be hopeful of locking down Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill.

Kansas City has their own shutdown CB as well in Marcus Peters and with Washington’s offence not being as dynamic in recent years, having half the field taken away could be a big deal. It’s not just Peters of course as Kansas City has one of the best players in the league in DE Justin Houston who plays the run as well as he rushes the passer – an all-around great player.

Since the opening game of the season, none of the following 5 games involving these two teams have gone over 47 points. I think we could see a similar score again this week.
