La Liga: Sunday’s crunch El Madrigal encounter should entertain

LA LIGA boff Callum Read (@callumread) is back to attack the Spanish top-flight with two selections from Sunday's card.

Celta Vigo v Malaga | Sunday 17:30 | Sky Sports 2

This game could well be the match of the weekend.

Celta have been one of the most enjoyable sides to watch this season averaging 3.50 goals per-game. Without doubt this figure is impressive and Malaga have also provided goals this season, averaging 3.18 goals per-game during the first 16 games of the campaign.

Celta looked more than impressive during their 4-1 Copa del Rey away win over Valencia during the week with all four of their goals coming from different scorers.

One of which arrived from one of my favourite players in the league at this moment in time – Iago Aspas. He’s scored 10 goals this season, making him the third-highest scorer in the league. His tally is only beaten by Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

There is a saying in football ‘he can’t stop scoring’ – the truth of the matter is, I think Iago Aspas needs to visit a doctor soon because he seems to picked up the condition.

The Celta star is averaging 2.50 shots per-game and with talent such as Daniel Wass, Pablo Hernandez and Theo Bongonda behind him, the striker is going to see chances fall his way.

The visitors lost their previous manager Juande Ramos over the winter break, bizarrely it was announced by the owner of Malaga via Twitter with Abdullah Al-Thani tweeting “Thanks a lot Mr. Juande Ramos. I respect your decision and wish you every success.” The club replaced him with former Malaga assistant manager Marcelo Romero.

This is a bet that has won me a lot of money this season and I’m happy to put my confidence in the Celta striker once more – he is best priced 8/5 with Bwin to score at anytime on Sunday and that’s the angle to attack.

Villarreal v Barcelona | Sunday 19:45 | Sky Sports 2

It’s been an indifferent season for Barcelona fans – they fielded their strongest available side against Athletic Bilbao during the week and lost 2-1 against the Basque side in the Copa del Rey.

Now it’s not going to be easy for the Catalans against, who have lost just once at home this season winning six of their eight games, scoring 17 goals. Villarreal have already beaten Celta Vigo 5-0 at El Madrigal and put three past Atletico Madrid for no return in front of their own fans earlier this season.

Defending champions Barca have appeared very shaky defensively and have had more errors than Luis Suarez goals – they’ve kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 away games, a statistic that will go down well with the Villarreal fans.

The fact Barca fielded their strongest side against Athletic just 72 hours before this game means Luis Enrique’s side may well have tired legs going into the game.

This match without doubt promises goals. Barcelona average four goals in their away fixtures this season with Villarreal’s home fixtures averaging 2.75 goals.

Villarreal have seen Over 2.5 Goals in their last five matches against Barcelona, while the away side have produced Over 2.5 Goals scored in six of their last seven away La Liga outings.

I’m more than happy to add one more goal to this and put my faith in Over 3.5 Goals, best priced at 28/17 888.

Best Bets

Celta Vigo v Malaga – Iago Aspas to score at anytime (8/5 Bwin)

Villarreal v Barcelona – Over 3.5 Goals (28/17 888)
